Families start here and stay here for many, many years. We offer every style of musical study, from classical to jazz and pop. We have both students who want to play just for fun, and also students who wish to audition for conservatories upon graduating.

Our private music lessons are one-on-one instruction. Lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. Our advanced students are preparing for performance opportunities, competitions, or university / conservatory auditions.

Healthy, Tension-Free Technique at the Myriad Music School

Taking good care of your hands, arms and posture while you play or sing is a specialty here at Myriad. This is one of the things that sets us apart from other music teachers and music schools. Our students know how to avoid common repetitive stress injuries while practicing. Injury-free Body Balance guidelines are prioritized for all musicians and vocalists. Special emphasis is placed on building blocks of a virtuosic technique, free of tension and limitations. This applies whether you’re a 6 year old beginner or advanced, college-level musician!

Our Owner is a specialist in integrated alignment when it comes to piano ergonomics, and all of our teachers receive this special training. We avoid outdated concepts of music lessons past and present. It’s important when seeking quality music lessons to know that many teachers are not enlightened with the importance of ergonomics. Outdated teaching models create tension and rigidity which limit speed and ease, and ultimately make it impossible to develop a virtuosic technique.

If you are a new student, before anything else, you need the right foundations. If you are a more advanced student, obviously you need informed, experienced music teachers guiding you to the next level of repertoire. Undoing sloppy technique learned in the early years is time-consuming and frustrating. From the beginning through advanced stages, we root our teaching in the natural anatomy, alignment, and movement of the fingers, hands, arms and body.

We help students develop a tension free awareness of all movement when playing! Many musicians following the guidelines prescribed by the Myriad Music School have found relief from discomfort and tension at their instrument. The results include increased virtuosity and beautiful tone.
