Let’s help you make a great choice, for maximum enjoyment and lasting results.

Ages 6 – Adults, All Levels
Our private piano lessons are one-on-one instruction with lesson lengths of 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. For ages 12+, we recommend a 45 min lesson length. If you do not see a  45-minute or 60-minute open lesson time here, simply register for a 30-minute spot then call our friendly Arts Admin Team to inform them of your intention, and we’ll help adjust your schedule.

We teach all styles, including classical, jazz, contemporary, pop, and musical theater tunes, along with songwriting skills. Students learn healthy, tension-free technique, music reading, theory, and smart practice strategies, while choosing their own fun projects along the way. Whether playing for personal enjoyment or pursuing a college-prep path, every student at Myriad progresses, gains confidence, and finds joy collaborating with their teacher each week.

All Private Lessons and Piano Teams are year-round enrollment / 12 month classes. Your preferred lesson time is reserved exclusively or you, year-to-year. No need to re-register each time.  Need to miss a lesson? It’s easy, with our make-up link. Sign-up for make-up lessons anytime. Make-up opportunities never expire, with continued active enrollment.

Piano Teams: Ages 6 – 9
Popular Class Recommendation for Beginners

Many of our beginning pianists, ages 6-9, thrive in our Piano Teams classes, which are small classes with 2-3 students, together with 1 teacher. Piano Teams blend individual instruction with group activities in music theory and collaboration. Team students progress at the same pace as Private Lesson students, then typically transition into Private Lessons around age 9-10. Piano team students demonstrate strong engagement in class and success with home practice assignments between lessons in this popular team + private focus format.

Ages 3-5: Myriad’s Smart Music Foundations

Questions about a child younger than Age 6?
Q: My child is 5 or younger, or on the early side of age 6.  Should they start private piano lessons?
A: We recommend starting with one of our three popular pre-piano programs for children under 6, designed to build the fine motor skills and music literacy foundations needed before private lessons begin..

Children ages 6+ are typically better equipped to:

  • Read music notation independently
  • Take on gentle, independent daily practice, which is essential for progress

For children ages 3-5 (or on the early side of age 6), Music Foundations Classes are the smart first step, prioritizing enjoyment, engagement, and early success, while also learning notes, rhythms, ear-training, musical collaboration, and the fine-motor skills needed to play an instrument. From there, students thrive moving into Piano Teams or Private Piano Lessons.

“My 6yr old just started taking piano lessons with teacher Tiffany. My daughter enjoys her time with Tiffany, she makes learning piano so much fun. Tiffany is amazing, I like how she’s very patient and personable. At the end of every lesson she lets me know how my daughter is doing and what they did that day.”

– Crystal V.

“I did not expect anything special but only beginning adult piano lessons. I was extremely impressed by my piano teacher Kay. She is the most awesome piano teacher I have ever had. She is very professional, and super dedicated to piano education. She prepared me ready for the higher level of piano lessons. Anyone who has her as your piano teacher will be super lucky. I like Myriad school so much! I enjoyed my music learning journey in Myriad with teacher Kay. She is 5 super star teacher!”

– Ke H.

“My daughter has been learning from Teacher Jefferey for almost a year. Teacher Jefferey not only gave her a lot of patience and understanding, he also tried his best to understand her interests and strength, and then tried to tailor the classes to fit for that. We really appreciate every effort Teacher Jefferey made to help his students, a lot of encouragement and also space for the students to take their own pace.”

– J.

“I like showing my teacher the compositions I created during the week. I find learning new techniques fun and interesting.
Sometimes it can get really hard, but you have to keep practicing to figure out the solutions.”

~ Bruce H, Age 8

Taking good care of you

Healthy, smart piano ergonomics & technique is our specialty! You’ll learn how to properly align your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders and neck at the piano

We are unique when it comes to a smart ergonomic approach to playing the piano. At Myriad, you’ll learn how to avoid common repetitive stress injuries while practicing. Our piano educators are all trained in Injury-free Body Balance guidelines we are known for. In our piano department, special emphasis is placed on teaching the building blocks of a virtuosic technique, free of tension and limitations. Whether you’re a 6-year-old beginner or an advanced, college-level pianist, we’ll help you master great technique.  Myriad’s owner is a specialist in integrated alignment when it comes to piano ergonomics. You’ll be the one to benefit, as our entire team receives this special training.

“I enjoy seeing my teacher every week playing music games and rehearsing music from the prior week . I like to put my piano books out where I can see them every day so I don’t forget to practice. In my piano lessons, I am learning responsibility and that practice makes progress.”

~ Elise K, Age 8

Piano Technique at Myriad is engaging, and smart for all ages.  Here is a little peek into technique foundations for our elementary level students.

Avoid common piano technique myths

We dispense with these antiquated ideas such as curled fingers, placing 5 fingers over five keys, holding “balls” under hands, or putting coins on hands to prevent natural up/down movement. These concepts, from the outset, create tension and rigidity which limit speed and ease, and ultimately make it impossible to develop a virtuosic technique. In fact, these are misguided attempts at describing what a truly virtuosic pianist does when playing! Instead, our teaching is rooted in the natural anatomy, alignment, and movement of the fingers, hands, and arms.

Learn how to play naturally and tension-free

In contrast, In lieu of curled fingers or other tension-inducing directives, we help students find their natural hand shape. Instead of “balls” held under the hand, we help students develop an awareness of their knuckles and wrist. We teach you what the hand should look like and feel like. As a result, the natural hand and arm movement maximizes both ease and strength for optimal playing. Consequently, pianists find ease tapping the fingers and dropping into the key without tension, leading to amazing control! This approach combines Body Balance  principles with Taubmann techniques.  Many pianists following the guidelines prescribed by the Myriad Music School have found relief from discomfort and tension at the piano. The results include increased virtuosity and beautiful tone.
